Howard's Creek Beer Cheese and Grits

Spoon Bread Style Grits Recipe by Howard’s Creek Authentic Beer Cheese

Equipment

Dutch oven
Hand mixer
2-quart casserole dish or a 13 x 9-inch glass or baking dish
Mixing bowl
Cooking spray or butter

Ingredients

4 – cups of boiling water
1 – teaspoon Himalayan salt (or to taste)
1 – Cup Weisenberger Stone Ground Grits
1 – stick real butter
8 to 14 oz. Howard’s Creek BOLD or Authentic Beer Cheese – we recommend the BOLD flavor, but either way, it’s delicious!
¾ – Cup heavy whipping cream
3 – Jumbo eggs or 4 regular eggs
Bourbon smoked garlic salt – (Optional)

Directions

Bring water to a boil with Himalayan salt. Add grits, slowly stirring until blended. Reduce heat to low, occasionally stirring to prevent lumps and sticking. Cook for 20-25 minutes. Remove from heat, stir in butter with Howard’s Creek Authentic Beer Cheese, and mix thoroughly. Taste and adjust with more Himalayan salt if necessary.

Beat cream to medium-stiff peaks, add eggs one at a time, beating each one gently, and add this mixture to the grits. Stir mixture together and pour into a greased 2-quart casserole or a 13 x 9-inch pan.

Bake in a 325-degree oven for 45 minutes and then turn up to 350 degrees for an additional 45 minutes. They are done when a knife inserted comes out clean. Turn the oven off and leave it in the oven for up to 45 minutes if needed to firm up.

Lightly season on top with a Bourbon smoked garlic salt before serving if desired.
