Howard's Creek Authentic Beer Cheese of Lexington, Kentucky!
Our family has preserved this rich history of the original 1930s Snappy Beer Cheese recipe by Joe Allman since 1979 after Johnnie Allman's restaurant on the banks of the Kentucky River burned for the third time in 1978. At the confluence of the Kentucky River and Howard's Creek in Boonesborough, KY, the original restaurant served what was called "Snappy Cheese." We put it under the Howard's Creek label in 2006 at the request of the public, who demanded Real Kentucky Beer Cheese. Endorsed by Joe Allman as "as close to his original recipe that you can get," with permission from Tim Allman, his son.
Award-winning since 2009 after placing 2nd out of 35 competitors in the first Beer Cheese Festival Contest in Winchester, KY! Howard's Creek Authentic Beer Cheese continues to win numerous awards from competitions against other beer cheeses, cheese manufacturers, and restaurants since its "debut" in 2009. Now available in several states with over 40 retailers, restaurants, bars, wineries, and online. Kathy was interviewed exclusively for the Wall Street Journal, and we have earned recognition and articles in publications such as Cooking Light, local magazines, and many others.
We only use cheeses certified by the REAL Seal Dairy Association, so you know our beer cheese has no fillers. We are Lab Tested <5 PPM Gluten-Free, and Howard's Creek is the only Beer Cheese on the market today that can legally carry those two icons on our label.
We strive to bring you the Best Beer Cheese you can buy. It's About Being the Best! Check out the recipes for cooking or pairing Howard's Creek, and remember to use Howard's Creek when making beer cheese soup and other recipes!
