Beer Cheese in Kentucky is a sharp cheddar cheese made into a creamy spread
using beer and spices that have a little kick of cayenne pepper.
2. What is the shelf life of beer cheese?
Howard’s Creek has a typical 4-month refrigerated best-by date.
3. How do I know what the date of the beer cheese is?
Howard’s Creeks date can be found opposite our QR code on the packaging.
4. Can beer cheese be frozen?
Yes, Howard’s Creek Beer Cheeses can, however, we recommend you freeze it before the best-by date.
5. How long can it stay in the freezer?
We recommend no longer than 4 months.
6. Is beer cheese spicy?
Yes, it has a heat, or as we say, “a little kick.”
7. Is beer cheese hot?
Heat is relevant. We don’t know your heat tolerance, but it does have some heat to it.
Howard’s Creek has the same heat blend in all our flavors.
It’s sharp cheddar cheese profiles that control where the heat peaks on your palate.
8. Do you have a mild beer cheese?
Hot or mild is a personal preference. All our beer cheeses have one heat.
9. What kind of cheese is used to make beer cheese?
We use three Wisconsin sharp cheddars for the different beer cheese flavors, including our Chocolate
Beer Cheese. Each flavor has two sharp cheddars. All of our cheeses are certified by the
REAL Seal Dairy Association, so you know you are getting 100% Real USA milk in our cheeses.

11. Is beer cheese gluten-free?
Howard’s Creek Beer Cheese is Lab-Tested Gluten-Free. Not all beer cheeses are though.
12. How can beer cheese be gluten-free if it has beer in it?
Our beer cheese is Lab-Tested using the ELISA method, and the results showed 0% alcohol when tested.
13. Why does beer cheese have heat in it?
When it was originally made in the 1930s, it was made to increase your thirst!
14. What is in beer cheese that makes it hot?
Howard’s Creek uses cayenne pepper.
15. What do you serve beer cheese with?
Beer Cheese can be served with veggies, crackers, in soups, on a burger, in grits, grilled cheese,
and anything you need a sharp cheddar cheese for.
16. I have never heard of Chocolate Beer Cheese. What’s in it?
No one makes Chocolate Beer Cheese but Howard’s Creek! The base is our Sharpest Beer Cheese,
with 60% cocoa, cream, and a little powdered sugar, and a little cayenne added back in the recipe.
17. What do you eat Chocolate Beer Cheese with?
We suggest tea biscuits, and graham crackers, add to your s’mores, ice cookies,
or for a healthier option, strawberries, blueberries, and nuts, like cashews!
18. Who makes your beer cheese?
We make it in our certified FDA facility in Lexington, KY.
19. Where did beer cheese come from?
In Kentucky, Beer Cheese started in a small restaurant called Allman’s on the River
in Boonesboro, KY. In the 1930s, the owner, Johnny Allman, asked his cousin, Joe,
the head chef of Turf catering at that time, if he could make something that would be
inexpensive to give to their patrons while they waited for their drink order.
In Joe Allman’s love for southwestern foods, he created the “Snappy” Beer Cheese.
We have preserved that recipe since 1979.
20. How many carbs does beer cheese have?
Howard’s Creek Beer Cheese has as many carbs as most sharp cheddar cheeses.
21. Are there health benefits of beer cheese?
Beer Cheese has several health benefits, the cayenne is an appetite suppressor.
Our beer cheese is keto-friendly. And because we use REAL Seal-certified sharp
cheddar cheeses, made with 100% milk, it has protein and calcium.
